Beige Book Fed Survey

Beige Book Fed Survey
Definition: Officially known as the survey of current economic conditions, the Beige Book is published eight times a year by the Federal Reserve Bank, containing anecdotal information on current economic and business conditions in their field through reports from Bank and Branch directors as well as interviews with key business contacts, economists, market experts, and other sources. Beige Book highlights the activity information by District and sector. The survey normally covers a period of about 4 weeks in duration, and was released two weeks before each meeting FOMC, which is also held eight times a year. Although considered by some as a lagging report Beige Book has usually served as a useful indicator of FOMC policy decisions on monetary policy.
